MLSSL News![]() The Official news of the Major League Soccer Sim League Los Angeles Galaxy lose 1st ever 1/7/99 The Los Angeles Galaxy lost there 1st ever match in there 4 month existance. The Galaxy lose to the Chicago Fire 4-2, a revenge for the Fire in there 2-0 lose in the Commissioner's Cup Final. "We have to lose some time, but its a bitter lose to Chicago, but there a quality team and its better to lose against them than anyone else." The win currently puts Chicago on top of the MLSSL standings Stoichkov signs with MLSSL 1/15/99 Commissioner and President Dino Biorac is a man of his words and has brought one of the best known 1994 World Cup players. Histrov Stoichkov decide to sign with the NY/NJ Metro Stars, Nick Farinola manager of the Metro Stars was very happy at the selection of Stoichkov. Farinola worked out a great deal for Stoichkov, sendind veteran Swiss International Alian Sutter to the A-League and $650,000 for Histrov Stoichkov. Kansas City was the orginal bidders, but were not the 1st team to ask for Histrov Stoichkov, the move was inspired with Stoichkov having bold opinions about the A-League and the poor play of the refs and the quality of league diminsing. Sources also say Tampa Bay were in the runnin, but Stoichkov supposivly didn't like a few players on the Mutiny's squad. MLSSL Winter Break Over, a successful Week 6 1/11/99 The MLSSL winter slumber ended yesterday, on Janurary 9th,
and today all 12 MLSSL team clashed in a successful regular season clash. "Attendance
for Week 6 was great and MLSSL merchandise sales over the holidays were great"
Commissioner and Preisdent of the MLSSL Dino Biorac told the press. "Expect a big
signing to come in the MLSSL from the forgein market in the next few days." Biorac
told the press. MLSSL Winter Break 12-22-98 to 1-9-99 12/21/98 MLSSL Commissioner Dino Biorac announced to the press that the MLSSL will have a winter break from December 22nd to Janurary 9th to the New Year 1999. The MLSSL has oepn its offices for trades, but no free agent signings, till after the break. Metro Stars loan 1st ever MLSSL player 12/14/98 The MLSSL's NY/NJ Metro Stars owner Nick Farinola, was the 1st MLSSL owner to ever loan a player to another club, Mexican International Damian, was loaned to England's Premiership team Southampton, in effort to help Southampton bring up offensive production and to stay alive in the Premiership, without being regulated to Nationwide Division 1. The loan is a 2 month period to Southampton. A-League's best youth face off in All-Star 10/27/98 A-Leagues West and East All-Star youth players took the field inn 2 games, one in Los Angeles at the Colussium and the other and RFK. The A-League West took both games, 4-0 on Los Angeles, 1-0 in the nation's capital. "A great display on what is to come to the future of the MLSSL" said commissioner Dino Biorac. This move was to inspire a youth/reserve team for each MLSSL club and to display the abilites of the avaiable youth players. 1st Annual Commissioner's Cup starts 10/21/98 The 1st annual Commissioner's Cup of the MLSSL went underway and Match Day 1 proved a few dissapointments and 16 teams , 12 MLSSL teams and 4 A-League teams faced off in Match Day 1. The MLSSL is funding the league. The 4 A-Legaue teams are, Orange County, San Diego, Richmond and Rhode Island. Mutiny win CIC 10/14/98 The Tampa Bay Mutiny took the 1st annual CIC cup, deafting Colorado 2-1. Tampa Bay just got the edge over the Rapids and get the grand total of 125,000 dollars, that they put up for the tournement. The rest of the some 200,000 + went to the Rapids, Clash, and Revs. Mutiny, Rapids in CIC Final 10/12/98 The Tampa Bay Mutiny will face the Colorado Rapids in Citrus Invitational Cup Final(CIC). Both teams did play today in the CIC qualifier for the finals and the Rapids came out he winner 2-1. One advantage the Mutiny might have is that Raymond James Memorial Staduim is in there homefield in Tampa Bay, Florida, so a lot of Mutiny fans will be in hand to see what is expect to be a great finale in this the 1st MLSSL tournement. "A memorial final game would be a great for the league and the city of Tampa Bay as well as the state of Florida, which is a state we need to get soccer popular," Commissioner Biorac's comments on the CIC final. Tomorrow the 3rd/4th place match will contain New England and San Jose, who did face off today, New England winning 2-1, the Clash will look for revenge. Citrus Invitational Cup, beginnings 10/1/98 Today marks a historic event for the MLSSL and its franchises. The 1st ever tournament gets under way, a tournament that is expected to be a annual one played before the regular season. "This will be a great way to pre-view the 4 teams playing in this tourney, and what there made of." There will be a prize of 150,000 being set for the 4 teams, most of it of course going to the top 2 teams. MLSSL 1st ever Tournament being planned 10/7/98 Yes that's right, in only a few weeks in existence the MLSSL will be having a pre-season tourney. It will be hosted by Chris Caron's Tampa Bay Mutiny. The 4 team invitational will be the 1st of its kind in the MLSSL, and hopefully an annual tournament. "This is just a great proposal by Chris and hopefully inspire other owners for future plans in there own tournament, hey it also can make you money," Commissioner Biorac's comment on the tourney. The Citrus Invitational Cup will be the tournaments name and games will be played at the brand new Raymond James Stadium. The MLSSL's 1st ever game 10/5/98 A historic date in the MLSSL, October 5th, 2 top rate teams battled it out for the 1st ever encounter. MLSSL's Los Angeles Galaxy hosted the Chicago Fire. The game was a good one controlled by Los Angeles, but the Fire defense tried to hold off, but LA was too much, and Machon scoring 2 easy goals and a great one by Welton. Mark Dodd had very little pressure on himself as the Galaxy proved something in a crowd of 37,500 at the Rose Bowl. MLSSL Schedule Released 9/30/98 The MLSSL front office release the entire schedule for the MLSSL 98-99 season. The MLSSL founded just 9 days ago is off to a great and fast start. "Its unbelievable what they have done so far, got through a full draft in 2 days, great for US soccer fans," Alan Rothenberg thoughts on the MLSSL progress. The MLSSL will have a very lengthy season making thinks very interesting with 12 teams. MLSSL Draft Done 9/29/98 The MLSSL conducted 16 rounds, 11 on Sunday and the final 5 tonight. Free Agents are allowed to be signed later in the week, once league offices have all the roster from team owners. MLSSL team rosters will be posted on the leagues official website, sometime Thursday. Pope, Nowak, John Top 3 in MLSSL Draft 9/27/98 Eddie Pope is the 1st MLSSL player to be drafted in beginning of the MLSSL. New England Revolution was the team who had the #1 overall pick in the draft and picked the 24 year old, 6-0, 175lb defender out of the University of North Carolina. Pope thoughts in going to Boston to play for the Revolution, "Boston is a great city, one of the beginning cities of our great country and will hopefully be the 1st MLSSL franchise to win the Cup and grow a dynasty that will last for a while." The following picks went as following: Peter Nowak(2nd), Stern John(3rd), Brian McBride(4th), Marco Etcheverry(5th), Preki(6th), Thomas Dooley(7th), Scott Garlick(8th), Jamar Beasely(9th), Frankie Heyduk(10th), Eduardo Hurtado(11th), and the final pick in the 1st round was Cobi Jones(12th). Owner Alex Fowler of the San Jose Clash went with the Kobe Bryant of the MLSSL, Jamar Beasely, no doubt a talent, but is he fully developed and mentally ready for the MLSSL, we will find out as the season goes on. MLSSL draft goes through 1st 11 rounds 9/27/98 The MLSSL draft finished 11 rounds of 16 today. The results were released publicly at 8pm PST and will be on the official website of the MLSSL. All 12 teams looked good in drafting, but several clubs went away as big potential MLS winners. The next 5 rounds will be on Tuesday and the results should be released publicly around the same time as tonight's release 8pm PST. MLSSL gets new owners before draft time 9/27/98 The MLSSL released several owners before the draft, due to unqualified ownership. Instead of a delay of the draft, the MLSSL remarkable found the replacements of the managers and got the draft on just a few hours behind schedule. Details on the draft will be released later today. MLSSL Draft, Sept. 27 9/24/98 The MLSSL has set it date for the MLSSL Draft for this weekend, Option A and B are being reviewed by owners and managers and the draft will be Sunday the 27th of September. MLSSL announces 12 franchise for inaugural year 9/24/98 The MLSSL has found 12 owners to take over 12 franchises for its inaugural year. The franchises are the 12 MLS franchises. The owners are known with MLSSL president and commissioner Dino Biorac, who is looking to have a great inaugural season with smart, well-known football minds and men. The MLSSL will expand within the next few seasons, there are doubts for an expansion after the inaugural year. MLSSL Founded, 9-21-98 9/21/98 The MLSSL, the Major League Soccer Simulation League, was originally going to be the called the WFL(World Football League). The league was inspired by a donated simulator called MSWL 6.0 by a Mr. Al Sellers. The MLSSL president, commissioner, and founder will be Dino Biorac, a known business owner and soccer fanatic. |
