David is a goalkeeper of fantastic potential, a fact that is recognised by those in the know at national level, as well as many Premiership managers. On his day he can be unbeatable, as he showed in a world class display in the league draw at Gillingham last season. Unfortunately, he is prone to error, and his failure to keep out a low shot from Robert Taylor in the play-offs against the same opposition possibly cost us a Wembley appearance. That said, he has done well to dislodge Teuvo Moilanen as the club's first choice keeper, and is likely to start next season in the no.1 shirt. David has been capped at under-18 level for England and is a regular member of the under-21 squad. It was reported that North End turned down a £900,000 offer from Liverpool for him last season, but if he improves his form next term, more big clubs will be back in for him, and his England ambitions may well see him leave Deepdale.
