'Jacko' must go down as the PNE bargain of the decade, having signed for a paltry £125,000 from Bury in 1997. Has barely put a foot wrong in a North End shirt, as and well as being dominant in the air, is always capable of pulling of that last-ditch goal saving challenge.
Michael had a magnificent 1998/99 season, winning the club's player of the year award, and scoring some crucial goals, most notably the only goal of the game at Stoke on Boxing Day.
He has recently been the subject of firm interest from Joe Royle's Manchester City, with Preston believed to be asking for a fee in the region of £1 million for their star centre back.
It remains to be seen who will partner Jacko at the back next season, but at the current time he is the first name on manager David Moyes's team sheet.
