Julian was signed from West Brom in the summer of 1997 as a makeweight in the deal that took Kevin Kilbane to The Hawthorns. Despite not being a favourite of the fans, he is a versatile player and hardworking player, which was particularly well illustrated when he stood in at right back last season after the unfortunate injury to Gary Parkinson. Has interested numerous clubs since becoming a North End player, including Notts County, Hull City and Shrewsbury Town. Even though he would be guaranteed first team football if he moved on, Julian has recently signed a new one year deal to be combined with some coaching work at Deepdale. It is likely that he will play a crucial part in the first team squad next season, mainly due to the fact he is able to fill in at the back or anywhere across the midfield.
